What is the Tankyu New-Make Spirit?
Our new-make spirit is freshly distilled single malt spirit — the unaged whisky distillate that will one day become Tankyu single malt whisky. Made with Daisetsuzan spring water and carefully selected malted barley, it offers malty sweetness, fresh citrus, and a clean, fruity finish. It is the purest expression of the distillery's character before cask maturation.
How should I taste the New-Make Spirit?
New-make spirit is best appreciated neat at room temperature to fully experience its malty sweetness and citrus notes. Add a few drops of water to open up the aroma. It can also be enjoyed on the rocks or as a base for a simple highball with soda water and a lemon twist.
When will the Tankyu single malt whisky be available?
Our first single malt whisky is expected around 2028. In the meantime, you can sign up on our Spirits page to be notified when the new-make spirit and future releases become available.
Do you ship internationally?
International shipping is subject to the alcohol import regulations of each destination country. Our Japan store ships within Japan, and the Hong Kong and UK stores serve their respective regions. For other destinations, please contact us to discuss options.
Can I visit the distillery to taste and buy your spirits?
Yes. Our distillery tasting room in Higashikawa is open to visitors. You can book a guided 60-minute tour that includes a tasting of our craft gin and new-make spirit. Tours are available in English, Japanese, and Cantonese. Visit our Tour page to book.
